Course Description This course is designed for students who want to improve their performance on the SAT Writing and Language section. Through class lessons and targeted practice, students will develop their knowledge and skills in grammar, usage, and punctuation. This course will examine the following topics: The SAT Writing and Language section, including Standard English Conventions (punctuation, grammar, usage, and sentence structure), Expression of Ideas (clarity, coherence, and effective communication of ideas), Command of Evidence (analyzing and using evidence to support claims), and Words in Context (effective word choice and vocabulary usage). To track their progress, students will take a grammar diagnostic test at the beginning of the course and a final test at the end of the course. Students will complete one hour of homework each week to practice for the exam.
