This class offers in-depth, step by step instruction on how to plan and compose an essay. Students will learn how to select an essay topic, research that topic, form a thesis statement and supporting points, outline and organize their thoughts, and properly write an essay. They will learn proper formatting and organization as well as how to properly quote and cite sources, all according to MLA standards. In Essay Writing 102 students will learn to write a research essay based on a topic given by the teacher, as well as how to write an essay based on a topic they select themselves (the topic they select must be approved by the teacher).

Class size: 6-7 students

Class Time: One hour per week*

Class Dates: 12 weeks*

Teacher: Coach Mrs. Stout (BA in English and teaching writing in Keetown since 2016)

Homework: Around 45 mins of homework time each week.
