Course Objectives
Course Description Building upon the foundation laid in the first semester, this second semester course continues to challenge students to expand their analytical writing abilities while delving into more intricate and demanding literary works. Over the 12-week duration, students will engage with a diverse array of texts spanning various genres and time periods, with an emphasis on works known for their complexity and depth. Through weekly one-hour sessions, students will embark on in-depth discussions, close reading exercises, and writing workshops to refine their analytical skills and deepen their understanding of literature. Homework assignments will include six analytical essays, three of which will be timed essays designed to simulate the rigor of the AP Literature and Composition exam. By the end of the course, students will emerge as more proficient and confident literary analysts, well-prepared to tackle the challenges of the AP exam and beyond.
