It was originally written as a 6 book saga, but was re-packaged into the three book trilogy we know today: The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers, and The Return of the King. However, the structure stayed the same and therefore each of the current books is broken into two smaller books. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eCourse Summary: \u003c\/strong\u003eIn this twelve session class we will read The Fellowship of the Ring and the first half of The Two Towers, which combined contain the first three of the original books. Each week, students will independently read approximately four chapters and write responses to essay and critical thinking prompts. In class, we will discuss various aspects of the book and mythic structure, as well as writing skills.
