This 12-week intensive will utilize J.R.R. Tolkien’s classic children’s novel, The Hobbit, to teach comprehension and writing skills. Over the course of 12 sessions, students will read the whole novel, answer comprehension questions, engage in discussions, and write a book summary/report on the novel. Homework will include reading approximately two chapters a day and answering comprehension/discussion questions, and as a final assignment students will write a book report/summary. Ideal for grades 7-8.

Class size: 6-7 students

Class Time: One hour per week

Class Dates: 12 sessions*

Teacher: Coach Mrs. Stout (BA in English and teaching writing in Keetown since 2016)

Homework: Around 45 mins of homework time each week.
